State Information

One of the most geographically diverse states in America, Idaho’s landscapes range from desert to mountainous. Separated from the Pacific Ocean by Washington and Oregon, Idaho was meant to be smaller than it is: the northern “pan handle” was originally meant to be part of neighboring Montana.

Idaho’s major industries include agriculture and mining, although its northern lakes are attracting a great deal of real estate attention of late. The origin of the state’s name is somewhat contentious: some contest that the origin is unknown, while others claim that the name was coined from an Indian saying. Another theory is that the name was coined by Congress.
