State Information
Kansas finds its name as a result of the Siouan word “Kansa”, meaning “People of the south wind.” Its location is in the geographical center of the continental United States, with the “western” state of Colorado on one side, and Missouri to its east. It is a decidedly flat state and its sources of industry include, among others, cattle, wheat, corn and aircraft / automobile manufacturing.
Kansas is often mistaken for the sole home of the oddly-named “Kansas City”, which is also found in Missouri.
