State Information
Kentucky is considered to be a Southern state, although its location places it quite centrally in the Midwest. Like Indiana’s Indy 500, Kentucky is famous for the Kentucky Derby horse races.
Incredibly, despite being landlocked, Kentucky has a very large amount of shoreline, thanks to its many lakes and rivers. It became a state on June 1, 1792 and now specializes in the production of tobacco, corn, peanuts and wheat. The state is also somewhat famous for its whisky: known as Bourbon, Jim Beam Maker’s Mark are two of Kentucky’s better-known brands.
