State Information

Home to the world’s “Motor City”, Michigan is known as the Wolverine State, even though there are no longer any wolverines in the state. It is home to almost ten million people and most of its boarder is coastline: Michigan lies to the east of Lake Michigan, the south of Lake Superior and the west of Lakes Huron and Erie.

As well as car manufacturing, the state specializes in farming, timber and fishing. Wonderfully, Michigan’s state motto translates from Latin as “If you are seeking a pleasant peninsula, look around you.” This is especially fitting considering that at any point in the state, one is only ever eighty-five miles from a Great Lake.
